At Norbury Park Wood Products we create a range of signature countryside furniture for a broad spectrum of customers, from national parks and country estates to parish councils and village bowls clubs.
The majority of our range is made from English oak. As well as making products from green oak, we also produce a range of kiln-dried oak products – mainly benches. We have our own wood-fired kiln that allows us to dry carefully selected oak in a temperature and humidity controlled environment. The resultant timber is used to create our range of top quality products.
We are proud of our ethical approach to the creation of all our products. Trees arrive with us “in-the-round” – just the tree butt with the branches stripped off. We “square” the tree by removing the outer part of the butt, which is known as slabwood, then cut the timber to sizes specifically required for use in our workshop for your order.
Once the timber enters the workshop, our team of skilled craftsmen create our high quality, well designed, hand crafted and durable countryside products right here in our traditional workshop, made using materials that have been sourced from local and sustainable reserves. They use traditional joinery methods, including mortise and tenon joints and solid wood dowels. We also try to utlise every part of this valuable timber resource: from fuel for our wood burning stoves, to charcoal and other by-products.
Many of our products are enhanced with customer defined inscriptions or logos. These can either be routed directly into the wood, or we can provide a suitably inscribed plaque which can be rebated into the item of furniture.
Finally, the products are finished using a variety of techniques and treatments, ready for delivery or collection.
